The experience

A village at the end of the world

High on the Gerês plateau, Pitões das Júnias feels like a village at the end of the world. Follow ancient paths to one of the largest waterfalls in the National Park and the ruins of a medieval monastery hidden in the valley.

Then discover village life: the community oven where bread was baked for everyone, the traditional smokehouse and the local museum. The area is also home to the Iberian wolf and wild goats.

  • Pitões das Júnias waterfall
  • Ruins of the medieval Monastery of Santa Maria das Júnias
  • Community oven and traditional smokehouse
